Commencement Parking

To ensure that we have a seamless flow of traffic and parking for both Baccalaureate and Commencement, please see the parking guidelines below. Download Commencement Parking Guide.

Cabinet / Board of Trustees / VIP

All members of the President's Cabinet, Board of Trustees and special guests park in the Cabinet parking lot and the Rosenwald/Chapel Horseshoe. These members will have a WHITE PARKING PASSONLY WHITE PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

Parking in the Rosenwald Horseshoe is restricted effective 7 p.m. Thursday through 7 p.m. Saturday of Commencement Weekend.

 

For Baccalaureate, members will park in the Rosenwald Horseshoe.

Graduates

All graduates will be required to park in the Gentilly Gardens and Camphor/Hartzell paved parking lot across from the library. They must enter through the Virgil (Gardens) Gate. The Virgil Gate will open at 6:00 a.m. the day of Commencement. Parents and other guests will not be allowed to park in this area and will be directed to General Parking.

 

Faculty, staff and volunteers will have other designated parking areas. These members will have a YELLOW PARKING PASS. ONLY YELLOW PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT YOU ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

For Baccalaureate, members will park in the Gentilly Gardens parking lot. 

Faculty/Staff/Event Staff

If you are faculty, staff or event staff, you will be required to park in the Tennis Court/Dent Hall parking lot. Please enter through the Cook Gate which will open at 5:00 a.m. the day of Commencement.

 

Families and other guests will not be allowed to park in this area and will be directed to General Parking. Families and other guests will have a FACULTY PURPLE PARKING PASS AND STAFF RED PARKING PASS. ONLY PURPLE AND RED PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ALL OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

For Baccalaureate, these groups will park in the Gentilly Gardens and Camphor parking lot. 

Media

Credentialed members of the media will park in the DUICEF parking lot. They must enter through the Cook Gate. Media will have a PINK PARKING PASS. ONLY PINK PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

Police

Credentialed members of the DUPD and outside law enforcement will park alongside of the Public Safety complex within a barricaded area. DUPD and law enforcement partners will have a BLUE PARKING PASS. ONLY BLUE PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

 

Golden Graduates

Golden Graduates will be allowed to park in the PSB parking lot and will be allowed to enter from the Warrington or the Cook gate. Both gates open at 5:00 a.m. You will have a GREEN PARKING PASS. ONLY GREEN PARKING PASSES WILL GRANT ACCESS TO THIS AREA. ANY OTHERS WILL BE DIVERTED OR REMOVED. 

Handicap Parking

Primary handicap parking for Commencement will be in the Williams and Straight Hall parking lots, the Henson Hall horseshoe, and the roadway between St. Anthony Street and Warrington gate. Vehicles without handicap tags will not be allowed to park in either of the lots and roadway from 7:00 p.m. on Thursday through 7:00 p.m. on Saturday of Commencement Weekend.

 

Disabled individuals attempting to park in those areas will enter through the Cook Gate and the Warrington street gate. Disabled individuals attempting to park for Baccalaureate will park on the Chapel side of the Rosenwald horseshoe and DUICEF parking lot and will enter through the main gate. 

 

FOR GRADUATION: Handicap pick up points will be at the corner of St. Anthony and the PSB, PSB lot and the corner of Cook all in the Student Union lot. Drop off will be at the Williams/Straight Hall location. 

General Parking

Members of the general public will be allowed to park in the Student Union, gravel lot, Daughters of Charity, Gentilly Blvd. and I-610 underpass. Enter through the cook Gate beginning at 6:30 a.m. the day of Commencement. To exit the parking lots, individuals must go through the Warrington Street exit of Daughters of Charity. There will be overflow parking AT YOUR OWN RISK under I-610 which is bound by New Orleans, Humanity, Benefit and Allen Streets. Parking on Gentilly Blvd. will be allowed once the lots on campus are full. NO parking passes are required. 

 

For Baccalaureate, general parking will begin at the DUICEF curve and go into the Dent Hall parking lot. Parking on Gentilly Blvd. is prohibited and vehicles are subject to ticket and tow from the City of New Orleans.

Shuttle Pick-up/Drop-off

The University shuttles will pick-up and drop-off in the Cook lot, and from the rear side of Kearny Hall nearest the bookstore. The shuttles will all enter and exit via the Cook Gate and will turnaround in the Dent Hall parking lot.

Illegally Parked Vehicles

All vehicles parked illegally on campus will be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking in handicap spaces without a permit, in fire/emergency lanes, on the grass/sidewalk, in reserved, or no parking zones will result in the immediate tow of the vehicle. There will be no parking in the space closest to Ms. Michelle Matthew’s office on the DUICEF side of Kearny Hall from 7 p.m. Thursday through 7 p.m. Saturday of Commencement Weekend.
