The Melton Foundation was established in 1991 by William and Patricia Smith Melton.
There are five host universities and one former university that make-up the Melton Foundation. The Melton Universities are located in Chile, China, Germany, India, and the United States. Dillard University is the only current university partner located in the US and we joined the Melton network in 1995 as a private historically black liberal arts institution.

The core activities of the Melton Foundation are to build a world-wide community of talented people from diverse cultures, and to address global issues based on principles of open communication and mutual respect. The Melton Foundation sponsors a diverse array of ongoing events, activities, and an annual symposium. Melton Fellows interact with each other both online and face-to-face through innovative technology. Our Fellows readily utilize technology such as web conferencing to deliver educational presentations and cross-cultural training, which helps to build strong social and professional ties. Melton Fellows are lifelong members of this foundation.
