    Higher Education Conference in New Orleans PDF Print E-mail

    The National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE) gets underway in New Orleans today.The conference will be May 28 to June 1 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside hotel. Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough will participate.

    Dillard University athletes fared extremely well at the 2013 NAIA Nationals during the May 24 weekend event held at Indiana Wesleyan University. Several student-athletes from the University earned All-American honors, and Jevonte Ezzard, LaQuandra James, Courtney Henry and Destinee Showell are all two-time All-Americans after qualifying last year.

    Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough's op-ed in the L.A. Times has generated much discussion among other media across the nation. On Thursday, May 23, 2013 Dr. Kimbrough appeared on WWNO, NPR radio, to discuss his points made in the article and reiterate why he is looking to broaden the discussion about philanthropy.

    In an opinion piece for the L.A. Times, Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough pens a question to hip hop moguls Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine asking them why they didn't consider giving their large donation to a black college instead of to the already well-endowed university, USC.

    "I do hope it will recruit and enroll a diverse class of students and not become some enclave for the already privileged student body there," says Kimbrough.
