    Dillard President Dr. Walter M Kimbrough helps sister school Centenary College celebrate its 188th year at its 2013 Founders Day celebration. Centenary College was instrumental in working with Dillard students to evacuate New Orleans from Hurricane Issac in August of 2012. Several Dillard students were taken in at the Shreveport college until they could safely return to New Orleans.

    Dillard University's production of "Two Trains Running" has been nominated for a 2013 Big Easy Theater Award. The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 25, 6:30 p.m. at Harrah's New Orleans.

    Dillard President Dr. Walter Kimbrough speaks with The Advocate about the rivarly between Xavier and Dillard basketball teams.

    "For schools like ours, athletics can be a rallying point. But we have real scholar-athletes, not semiprofessional or professionals in waiting to be eligible (one year basketball, three years football). Several of our athletes are planning to go to law school, become engineers, etc. They are really scholars," says Kimbrough.

    Dillard University President Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough will give the Convocation address at Centenary College's Founders Day, on Feb. 21, 2013. A partner university, Centenary College is located in Shreveport, La and was home to many Dillard students during the 2012 evacuation of Hurricane Issac. A gifted speaker, author and cultural expert, Dr. Kimbrough was recently named to TheGrio's 100 List of Influencial African Americans.

    Dillard Board of Trustees member and alumna Dr. Ruth Simmons discusses being a trailblazer in higher education for African American women. As a child,  Dr. Simmons questioned her mother about her eligibility for college. Not only was she encouraged to attend, she won a scholarship to Dillard University. Dr. Simmons went on to become the first African American to preside over an Ivy League School, when she was head of Brown University.
