Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, invites applications for the position of Director of Information Technology. The University is located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.


Position Overview:
This position provides leadership in advancing all aspects of university information technology: systems networking, information security, telecommunications, administrative systems, administrative computing, web technologies, and user support services.  Advise senior leadership and the Dillard community on emerging information technologies and provides leadership in strengthening online education initiatives and opportunities.


Essential Duties and Functions:
Oversees all aspects of University information technology and support services:  computer systems technology, networks, telecommunication, and information security.
Oversees a professional leadership team of programmers, computer analyst, and telecommunication personnel.
Develops and implements a University Strategic Information Technology Plan.
Provides oversight and direction for professional development and training for IT personnel and University customers.
Assures compliance with Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS) accreditation and regulatory requirements relating to technology.
Assures implementation of University technology redundant systems as part of Emergency Preparedness Plan.


Is designated as “Essential Personnel” in the event of a campus emergency.


Ensures that the University has up-to-date plans for disaster recovery, business continuity, and systems security.


Develops IT Dashboard and Effectiveness Metrics.  Ensures accurate collection of dashboard metrics and timely IT effectiveness reporting.


Ensures that technology budgets, contracts, service level agreements and operational policies are adhered to and that good stewardship of technology resources is applied at all times.


Keep professionally abreast of the hardware, software, networks, systems technological changes and innovations that occur in industry, relate these changes to the university’s mission and information technology paradigm and study and determine where new technology should be used to improve cost-effective and efficient operations.


Manage, review, and recommend for approval specific new and annual vendor hardware and software licenses, hardware and software maintenance agreements, and other information technology contracts that are under the management responsibilities of the Office of Information Technologies.


Determine staffing/vendor support requirements for the accomplishment of approved Information Technologies goals and objectives in conformance with the university’s strategic direction and mission.

Qualifications Education:
Master’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Library Administration, Business or a related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university with combination of experience.

Experience:
5-10 years of management experience particularly in an academic environment, supervising staff with backgrounds in information technology.
Experience in managing major platform convergence and enterprise wide installation and maintenance is needed. Jenzabar experience is a definite plus.

Supervision:
This role supervises staff in the division of Information Technology.

Certifications, licenses and registration:
SQL knowledge would be a plus.
