Job Description

Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/profession institution located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana, announces one position in the School of Public Health.

The School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, seeks a well-qualified candidate for a tenure-track faculty position in Public Health at the rank of Assistant Professor.  We are looking for candidates with a focus on health disparities and community based participatory research. The successful applicant would be expected to exemplify good teaching and curriculum development, engage in University and Community service, and develop an active research program.  The applicant is expected to develop research that would involve the local community; advise students; and teach in the area of the candidate‚Äôs interest and in core areas public health for undergraduate students. The position begins August 2014.

Responsibilities will include an expectation of teaching excellence in undergraduate courses in the comprehensive area of public health; conducting rigorous research in a specific, focused research agenda; collaborating on curricular development; contributing to a collegial team environment; engaging in service, and advising undergraduate students.

Qualifications Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Health Management, Behavioral Sciences/Health Promotion, or Epidemiology. Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates who have a proven knowledge of contemporary medical/healthcare practices; an understanding of contemporary issues in community health education; provide evidence of teaching in a post secondary institution; mastery of popular technology to support learning; experience in community/public health outreach; strong potential for scholarly growth and for acquiring external funding, excellent communication skills, both oral and written; and demonstrated involvement in professional organizations; have board certification in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and/or Certified Health Education Specialists; and who are graduates of public health schools and programs accredited by Council on Education for Public Health.

Salary and Rank: Salary and Rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
