Brazil English Teacher's Program (PDPI)
PDPI Participants will be immersed in intensive hands-on learning and training to progress and develop their English language proficiency by studying at the Center for Intensive English Language (CIEL) program at Dillard University for six (6) weeks. The program provides intensive English training in four (4) language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. U.S. history and culture will be a core component in participants’ platform of learning the English language.
The student teachers will also be given an overview of the local public education system and will connect with U.S. teachers, which will encourage ongoing exchanges of culture among teachers and students.
The Dillard University Coordinator of Instructional Technology will train the students to the use online pedagogical technical resources such as Blackboard Learn for teacher development, lesson plan preparation and students’ projects.
In addition, guest speakers will conduct workshops on various topics that deal with teaching methodology and techniques. Participants will also take part in organized structured field trips as part of the Cultural Enrichment component of the course, which will also include at least one community service learning project of their choice.
