Dillard University’s picturesque campus is located in the heart of the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans. The university’s campus setting strives to create an academic climate conducive to the pursuit of scholarship and the development of character.

To achieve this atmosphere, Dillard has established a range of academic, social and religious societies on campus. From campus ministries and student government, to honor societies and university organizations, Dillard University has an organization to expand the campus experience of every student. The university’s campus also features an outpatient clinic, the Office of Health and Wellness, as well as the Dillard University Bookstore to meet student’s health and academic needs.

Student Success Story

Born to the proud parents of Lawrence and Dylanda Young on October 22, 1990, Mister Lawrence Lamar Young Jr. is a graduating senior majoring in Urban Studies and Public Policy from Atlanta, Georgia. He began his journey at Dillard University in the fall of 2009. His commitment to Dillard and his passion to learn and grow has made his undergraduate experience unforgettable. This past summer Lawrence completed an internship at City Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana with Mayor Landrieu’s Innovation Delivery Team working on asset based maps and initiatives for “NOLA for Life”, a comprehensive murder reduction strategy that was released earlier this year.

He has been a Dean’s List Scholar since his arrival and currently holds a 3.8 GPA. He is a member of the Collegiate 100 Black Men of Dillard University where he served as President. During his tenure he led a group of 27 gentlemen into one of the biggest and most successful year in Collegiate 100 history at Dillard University. His favorite motto is, “Think, Plan, Execute, and Dominate”! Lawrence is a global citizen of the Melton Foundation which focuses on connecting cultures, ideas, and building lifelong relationships with fellows from China, Chile, Germany, India and the United States; Lawrence has traveled twice to Germany. He is a member of the Global Scholars Association and a proud member of the Beta Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated where he currently serves as the Vice President. Upon graduation, Lawrence plans on attending graduate school to receive a Masters in Urban Planning and Policy.
