Dillard University Police Department

Your safety is one of our top priorities. We are fortunate to have our own Dillard University Police Department (DUPD) where our state-certified officers strive to keep you and our faculty, staff and visitors safe while on campus.

While you are visiting campus, or when you are attending as a student, DUPD offers a variety of services, and an officer is just a phone call away when needed.\

Services offered by DUPD

The DUPD is equipped with a jump box that is capable of starting a stalled vehicle and an air compressor to air tires with low pressure.

The DUPD office is equipped with an auto unlock kit enabling the officer to unlock most vehicles.

You can receive test and email alerts that will keep you informed with real time information about emergencies or weather events.

If you or an out-of-town faculty or staff needs to establish a residency requirement in the State of Louisiana, you can receive an emissions check through our department, which gives you leniency in the event of an expired registration.

The Dillard University Police Department is responsible for all law enforcement and emergencies on campus. All crimes and emergencies should be reported to DUPD, so if you see any suspicious activity while on campus, contact DUPD and they will come to check it out.  You can contact the DUPD in the following ways:

  • Reporting can be done quickly by calling 911 on any campus phone.
  • Dillard University has “blue light” emergency telephones on campus so you can report from any of these phones.
  • You can also go to the University Police office to file a report, which is located at Gentilly Gardens on Virgil Street behind the Will W. Alexander Library.
  • You can also speak directly to an officer in the field.

The Jeanne Clery Act
