It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Dillard University College of Nursing. It is a program steeped in history and honor, as it was the first program in Louisiana to offer the baccalaureate in nursing. For more than 75 years, Dillard's nursing program has created an environment of educational excellence both here and abroad.

The mission, philosophy, and learning outcomes of the School of Nursing are consistent with those of Dillard University. The mission, philosophy, and learning outcomes of the School of Nursing emerge from a composite of pedagogy, scholarship, and service which supports critical thinking, effective communication, continuous knowledge, and skillful performance. The mission of the School of Nursing is to develop students who are broadly educated, technologically astute, and culturally sensitive, into proficient, prudent practitioners. Graduates from the School of Nursing utilize a holistic approach to provide care that improves the human condition of individuals, families, and communities in a diverse global society.

The commitment of our faculty and staff produces graduates who distinguish themselves by generating the knowledge to advance the profession, participating in the education of future nurses, working with interdisciplinary teams, and delivering care to patients in many different settings and geographic locations. Being a nurse is rewarding. Today, the growing need for caring and competent nurses makes it even more personally satisfying. It is a career that can take many paths, depending on your interests and goals. As it has for many others, the journey can start here and we invite you to join us. At this time, the program has received initial approval from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing for its restructured pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing program plans. The first cohort will be admitted to the restructured program the spring 2019 semester.

The College of Nursing is located in the Professional Schools and Sciences Building in suite 102, which opened in the fall of 2010.

The building features six nursing laboratories, including a high-tech simulation laboratory. Each specialty area has its own designated laboratory.

The 130,000 square-foot PSB also houses academic and research programs for the School of Public Health, the College of Business, and the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The building has a common grand entrance, the atrium, that serves as a focal point for community and student interaction. The new facility is LEED®* certified and (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and features a balcony garden. View more of the PSB in our Virtual Tour.
