Earn your Bachelors of Science in Accounting
At Dillard University, we offer a comprehensive Accounting program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the dynamic field of accounting. Our program combines rigorous coursework with hands-on experiences to prepare students for successful careers in various sectors, including public accounting, corporate finance, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Through a combination of classroom instruction, internships, and real-world projects, students gain practical expertise in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and managerial accounting.

Accounting Degrees and Programs
Bachelor of Science in Accounting
The Dillard University Accounting Program offers a comprehensive educational experience designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the field of accounting and financial economics.
Complete a total of 121 credit hours of coursework for graduation, including:
- General Education Core: 41 credit hours
- Business Core: 50 credit hours
- Major Requirements: 30 credit hours
Prepare for your career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with additional coursework, as the State of Louisiana and many other states require 150 hours of academic credit to register and sit for the CPA examination. Students pursuing this path must complete an additional 29 credit hours beyond those required for the baccalaureate degree.
Engage in service learning initiatives, earning a total of 30 service learning hours upon successful completion of foundational courses. Additionally, contribute to your community through pre-approved community service projects coordinated by the Center for Career and Professional Development, accumulating a total of 90 hours by the end of your junior year.
Ensure your proficiency in written communication by completing ENG 111 and ENG 112 with a minimum grade of 'C' to register for the Writing Proficiency Examination. Those needing additional support can enroll in ENG 200 – Review of Writing Strategies (3 credit hours).
Expand your global business perspective by taking any designated Business Administration and/or Financial Economics 300/400 global business elective course. With approval, CS 318 – Management Information Systems may be taken as a substitute for BM 318 – Management Information Systems.
Earn your Accounting minor by completing 18 credit hours of diverse coursework, expanding your knowledge of financial principles and practices.
