Dillard University admits applicants who possess high standards of scholarship, serious and realistic educational goals, potential for service and leadership, and the personal characteristics of honesty, loyalty and self-respect. The university does not make any distinction as to religion, race, or gender in the admission of its students. Below are the steps need to gain acceptance.

Grade Point Average
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 unweighted scale (Freshmen/International Applicants)
Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA from last college attended (Transfer/Readmit Applicants)
*Applicants with a General Education Diploma (GED) must submit minimum score of 450 (45 Hi-Set).
Test Score
18 ACT composite score or 960 SAT (math and evidence based reading and writing)
*Students over the age of 23 are not required to submit ACT/SAT score to be considered for acceptance.
**To be considered for test-optional, student must have at least a 3.0 unweighted grade point average.
If a first year applicant does not meet the above mentioned requirements, they must also submit two letters of recommendation (click here) and a personal statement (3-5 paragraph essay outlining your future aspirations) for further consideration. Those students wishing to be considered without test scores cannot submit two letters of recommendation and a personal statement for further review. The GPA requirement is mandatory.
Available to incoming freshmen. No separate application needed. Eligibility for merit-based awards is determined based on the students' SAT/ACT score and GPA at the time of acceptance. Students must meet the renewal criteria annually. Click here to view the renewal criteria.

Dean’s Scholarship – $10,000.00
Dean's Scholarship (TO) – $10,000
Requirements: 3.6 unweighted on a 4.0 scale
Merit Scholarship – $8,000
Merit Scholarship (TO) – $8,000
Requirements: 3.25 unweighted on a 4.0 scale
DU Grant I – $6,000
DU Grant (TO) – $6,000
Requirements: 3.0 unweighted on a 4.0 scale

Dillard University offers Transfer Awards (Merit Scholarship and Grant) to eligible students, who have earned a minimum of 12 accepted transferrable credit hours, before attending Dillard University. Transfer Merit Awards cannot be combined with any other merit based award. Students must meet the renewal criteria annually. Click here to view the renewal criteria.
Transfer Merit – $10,000
Transfer Merit 2 – $6,000
Transfer Grant 1 – $4,000
*Accepted transferrable credit hours is defined as credit hours with a grade of C or higher and align with Dillard University's curriculum.
Dillard University offers a Readmit Grant to eligible students who were previously enrolled at Dillard University and maintained at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
Readmit Grant – $4,000
