Kenner native Victoria Robertson ‘21 named a Dillard University valedictorian

NEW ORLEANS – Victoria Robertson ‘21 has been named a co-valedictorian for the Dillard University class of 2021. Robertson, along with one other valedictorian will lead their class, composed of 215 students, during the University’s 85th Commencement Exercise on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 8 a.m. on the Rosa Freeman Keller Avenue of Oaks on the Gentilly campus.
Kenner, Louisiana native Victoria Robertson will receive her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in social work. As a student, Robertson was a member of the Thompson Cook Honors College program, served as the secretary and vice president for the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology, and the events manager and freshman representative for the Pre-Alumni Council.
Robertson is a member of the Leadership Alliance and a Mellon Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University where she was awarded a certificate of excellence in undergraduate research. She has also acted as a student researcher at Dillard, presented at several undergraduate research symposiums, and has been published in two peer-reviewed journals. “Her ability to analyze a situation and think critically to come to a solution is unmatched. I look forward to seeing her future work as she weaves the fields of psychology and social work to affect change in the lives of individuals and ultimately impact society at large,” Octavia Edinburgh, Dillard's social work professor shared. “Her compassion will make the difference as she navigates building a career in this people-driven profession. It has been a pleasure to watch the growth that she has displayed over her time here at Dillard.”
The graduating senior has been a recipient of the Dillard University presidential scholarship and the UNCF Wells Fargo Scholarship. “Ms. Robertson is by far the most exceptional student I had the pleasure to work with this year,” Dr. Sean Gibbs, associate professor of psychology said of Robertson’s brilliance. “She consistently goes above and beyond. I’m so excited to see all the amazing accomplishments in her future and look forward to calling her my colleague." Robertson has been accepted into three doctoral programs and plans to attend Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. She is a recipient of Adler’s doctoral degree merit scholarship for clinical psychology.
