We are proud to share that Dillard University participated in the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) New Orleans Mayor’s Masked Ball on Saturday, March 23, 2024. It was a night of elegance and celebration, highlighting the transformative impact of the UNCF on our students and our institution.
A highlight of the evening was our very own President, Dr. Monique Guillory, delivering heartfelt remarks on the upcoming 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. She reflected on the resilience of our faculty, staff, administration, and students who persevered in the face of the storm’s historic devastation. Her words were a powerful reminder of the strength and determination that define the Dillard community.
We were also deeply moved by the testimony of Dillard student Kennedy Brown, who shared her inspiring story of how UNCF’s support has shaped her educational journey. Kennedy’s eloquence and passion were a testament to the profound difference that the UNCF makes in the lives of students at Dillard University and beyond.
Dillard University holds a special place in the history of the UNCF. As one of the founding member institutions in 1944, we have seen firsthand how this partnership has opened doors of opportunity for generations of scholars. Since 2022 alone, we have received over $1.24 million from the UNCF. Of that, $1.16 million has directly supported the Fair Dillard Annual Fund, providing critical unrestricted resources to advance our mission. Additionally, funds have contributed to the UNCF HBCU Transformation Project, driving forward strategic initiatives that ensure HBCUs like Dillard continue to thrive.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the UNCF, its supporters, and all who contribute to making higher education accessible for our students. Their generosity empowers students like Kennedy to pursue their dreams, break down barriers, and become the leaders of tomorrow.
