Pretty Wednesday with Beta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

On January 8, 2024, the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  and the Beta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., held a special “Pretty Wednesday” gathering on Kearny’s terrace in New Orleans, LA, at noon. The event aimed to spread love and unity within the community in anticipation of Valentine’s Day.

With a heartwarming intention to both fundraise for their chapters and strengthen community ties, the members distributed candy grams and roses to students and locals alike. Autumn Ross, a junior studying Biology, beautifully summarized the event’s essence, stating, “Celebrating the beauty of our campus community while uniting us all.”

Landon Johnson, a senior in Computer Science representing Kappa Alpha Psi, emphasized the significance of their gesture, noting, “With Valentine’s Day approaching, we donned our business casual attire to share roses with our community—a simple yet respectful act.” This act not only brought smiles but also reinforced values of respect, kindness, and togetherness.

The event showcased the chapters’ dedication to both academic excellence and community building. Through such initiatives, they aim to cultivate a supportive atmosphere where everyone can flourish.
