Celebrating the Class of 2024: Senior Awards

The Class of 2024 Academic Awards Ceremony was a night of celebration and recognition for the exceptional achievements of students across various disciplines within the university. As each recipient walked across the stage to receive their respective awards, the room was filled with pride and admiration for their hard work and dedication to academic excellence.

In the College of Business, the School of Business Administration awarded George Alvarez the Highest Academic Achievement Award, Akilah Northern the Most Outstanding Student Award, and Brionne Brumfield the Service Award. In the School of Accounting and Financial Economics, Nadia Patterson earned the Highest Academic Achievement Award, Raven Square was recognized as the Most Outstanding Student, and Raegan Bramlett received the Service Award.

The College of Nursing celebrated Markeyah Moore for the Highest Academic Achievement Award, Oyinloluwa Akande for the Most Outstanding Student Award, and Jada Allen for the Service Award. Within the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Humanities recognized Ashley Brown for the Highest Academic Achievement Award, Autumn Ryan for the Most Outstanding Student Award, and J’Brionne Helaire for the Service Award.

The School of Population and Health Sciences awarded Kiarston Blackman the Highest Academic Achievement and Most Outstanding Student Awards. At the same time, Justin Harris and Taylor Hurst received the Service Award. Callia Thompson was honored with the Highest Academic Achievement Award in the School of Social Sciences, Ja’lexis Williams received the Most Outstanding Student Award, and Rajah Thomas was presented with the Service Award.

The School of STEM recognized Travionne Bob with the Highest Academic Achievement Award, Kyla Mayo and Malik Durant with the Most Outstanding Student Award, and Tyler Finley with the Service Award. The University College and Thompson Cook Honors Program recognized Travionne Bob with the Highest Academic Achievement Award, Kiarston Blackman with the Most Outstanding Student Award, and Ajayah Simpson with the Service Award.

The prestigious Benjamin E. Mays/Samuel DuBois Cook Presidential Scholarship was awarded to the Class Valedictorian Travionne Bob, alongside George Alvarez, Ashley Brown, Rajah Thomas, and Callia Thompson—the Michael J. Lomax Presidential Scholarship, presented to the Class Salutatorian, Covay Joseph. Jaren Barnes received the Walter J. Barker Prize, and Isabel Mitchell-Starks received the William J. Sutton Prize. The Rock Anderson Commencement Scholarship was awarded to Jamiah Jones.

With their nursing pins affixed to their uniforms, these 15 nursing graduates stand on the brink of a fulfilling and impactful career in healthcare.
