Bachelor of Science in English
Join the field of language and literature with Dillard University's English program, comprising 122 credit hours structured as follows:
General Education Core: 41 credit hours
Major Requirements: 36 credit hours
Additional Coursework: 45 credit hours
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of English studies, where you'll engage in critical analysis, creative expression, and interdisciplinary learning. Through a diverse range of courses, students delve into literature, language theory, composition, and cultural studies, cultivating their writing prowess and analytical skills.
Participate in service learning initiatives, accumulating 30 service learning hours upon successful completion of FYS 101 and FYS 102. Additionally, students contribute to their communities through pre-approved community service projects, accruing 90 hours by the end of their junior year.
Enhance your written communication abilities by successfully completing ENG 111 and ENG 112 with a minimum grade of 'C' to qualify for ENG 199 - Writing Proficiency Examination. For further support, ENG 200 - Review of Writing Strategies (3 credit hours) is available to aid in refining writing skills.
