The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is designed to encourage both persistence
and retention by providing intervention services for students who are at risk of academic
dismissal or students who fail to make satisfactory academic progress, or are on probation due
to their cumulative GPA. Our retention specialist works with students to select appropriate
courses for the upcoming semester, and developing strategies to assist students in making progress
toward their degree objectives. ACE also offers academic skills workshops.
All students whose cumulative gpa is below a 2.0 will be required to meet the terms below:
Schedule and attend at least three appointments with their faculty advisor.
During the first two weeks of the semester to develop an academic plan.
Midterms.
Following midterms but before the last day of class.
Schedule and attend at least three appointments with Dillard University’s Retention Specialist
During the first two weeks of the semester where your academic plan is submitted.
Midterms.
Following midterms but before the last day of class.
Schedule and attend at least one meeting with their Financial Aid counselor.
Meet with the Center of Career and Professional Development and complete the Strong Interest Inventory.
Actively utilize Canvas, MyDU, EAB, and their Dillard University email to monitor your progress.
Register for the classes prescribed by your academic advisor.
Register for no more than 14 credit hours while on probationary/warning status. Exceptions to the 14 hour rule are evaluated on an individual basis.
Remain enrolled, pass all classes listed on the Academic Plan, and earn at least a 2.0 GPA this semester.
Attend at least (4) Workshops offered by the University College and/or Student Support Services or personal counseling sessions that may be suggested by their academic advisor and the Retention Specialist.
