Why do you like working with students?
What I appreciate about working with student is the fact that things constantly evolve. I love engaging with students to learn how they are feeling, what they want to learn and providing them with the tools needed to practice self-advocacy. I particularly love seeing the overall journey of students from their freshmen year through graduation.
Favorite Dillard Memory:
I truly enjoyed my entire Dillard experience and couldn’t imagine going to school anywhere else. But I really enjoyed sitting on the yard with a snowball listening to DJ Raj Smoove with friends who I now consider to be family!

Why do you like working with students?
I am passionate about helping students achieve academic success, whether preparing them for continuing their education or joining the workforce. It brings me great joy when a student’s opinion of college or English, in general, changes for the better. For example, oftentimes a student, who is enrolled in one of my English classes, will walk into the classroom on the first day and proclaim to not be “good at English.” I take that declaration as a personal challenge. During the course of the semester, with positive feedback from me and the student’s peers, that same student becomes a more confident writer, participates in class discussions, and is actively engaged in his or her learning. The student is then more intrinsically motivated to learn. I take pride in knowing that I play a small role in that process.
Favorite Dillard Memory:
I joined University College as the Writing Center Coordinator and English Instructor in 2021. I have the pleasure of working with undergraduate, first-time freshman, and continuing students, both in and out of the classroom. Though I am fairly new to the Dillard University community, one favorite memory comes to mind. I assisted a student with her letter of acceptance for a program in which she wanted to participate. A week after she sought assistance, she came to my office and shared that she had been accepted into the program. Even though she verbally thanked me for helping her, the gleam in her eyes and the smile on her face were “thanks” enough. That one moment reaffirmed my belief that helping students achieve success, no matter how big or small is, indeed, my destiny.
