Dillard Visual Arts offers an array of exciting opportunities for students who have a deep interest in the realm of fine arts, photography, sculpture, and visual storytelling. Our program is designed to nurture your artistic talent, expand your creative horizons, and develop your technical skills.

As a student in our program, you’ll have the chance to explore various mediums, techniques, and artistic styles. Our experienced faculty members, who are accomplished artists themselves, will guide and mentor you, helping you refine your craft and discover your unique artistic voice.

At Dillard University, we believe in the power of art to transcend boundaries, provoke thought, and inspire change. Our Visual Arts program provides a supportive and vibrant community, where you’ll collaborate with fellow artists, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and exhibit your work in our campus gallery.

Our program offers individualized studio arts training for aspiring studio artists, curators, designers, photographers, art historians, and educators, while also paving the way for graduate studies in studio art, art history, museum studies, or art therapy.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate proficiency in major aspects, techniques and directions in chosen medium or media.
  • Analyze works of art perceptively and valuate them critically by using a comprehensive knowledge of the history of art.
  • Achieve highest level of technical ability in chosen media and its expressive possibilities.
  • Exhibit and promote evidence of development of studio-art practices within the facilities of the art gallery and to have their artwork critiqued and discussed.
