Dillard University continues to be fully accredited
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) on June 26, 2009, removed Dillard University from probationary status. SACS had imposed the probationary status on Dillard one year ago because of a need to improve the University’s financial controls. Dillard’s degrees and academic standards were never in question and it remained fully accredited through the probationary period.
“I am pleased that the probation has been lifted,” said Dr. Marvalene Hughes, president of Dillard University. “During the past year, the Dillard Board of Trustees, my Senior Cabinet and their staff worked diligently to address the challenges and to assure that Dillard would be in full compliance with all the Principles of Accreditation. We have demonstrated our ability to meet SACS’ standards of compliance and we have implemented processes that will ensure our continued operation within the Principles.
“I am also grateful to the SACS committees and staff who worked closely with us.
At Dillard University our goal is to always meet and exceed the highest standards of excellence in every regard. Now that we have resolved the probation matter, we will be able to devote all of our energy to the rebuilding of the Dillard University campus after Hurricane Katrina – now 90 percent complete – and prepare to welcome the Class of 2013 who will arrive on campus in September.” |
