    The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation to Move From Dillard PDF Print E-mail

    saxophone11The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's School of Music, currently at Dillard University, is expected to move from the university campus to a newly-renovated facility. Scheduled to open in the fall of 2014, architect firm Eskew+Dumez+Ripple will make a historic two-story structure in the Treme neighborhood a permanent home for the Heritage School of Music.

    Dillard Hosts Coast Guard Industry Day PDF Print E-mail

    USCG_9225812-smallAs part of NOLA Navy Week, Dillard University will play host to the U.S. Coast Guard for their "Industry Day" on Friday, April 13, 2012. Held in Georges Auditorium, the morning event will have different mariners and marine sector representatives speak about various issues including those of safety, security and vessel inspection processes. The event is free and open to the public and the Dillard community.

    Dillard Chair to Host First Holiday Seder at an HBCU PDF Print E-mail

    culinary-historian-jessica-b-harris.492.325.cJessica B. Harris holds the Ray Charles Chair in African American Material Culture at Dillard University. She will be part of the first official Seder at an HBCU.

    A culinary historian and author,  Harris will give a free public lecture at 6 p.m. in the Bennie G. Thompson Academic and Civil Rights Research Center at Tougaloo, relating African-American food traditions to the Jewish Passover Seder tradition. Harris, a noted expert on African-American food history, is the author of 11 cookbooks documenting foods and foodways of the African Diaspora.
